23 June: Additional prizes in the form of YesPic microcontrollers and free training sessions have been kindly sponsored by da Vinci's Workshop Pte Ltd! Please see the new list of prizes below. Note that da Vinci's Workshop Pte Ltd has been conducting courses on building a complete robot for the Challenge.
23 June: Additional Award categories have been included, including Best in Mechanical Design, Best in Creative Design and Best in Teamwork. See below for details.
15 June: The playing field will be open for booking and practice by teams starting from 27 June (Monday). Details here.
10 June: The soft flour in the sandtrap obstacle has been replaced by fine beach sand.
10 June: The points awarded for the seesaw obstacle increased to 300 marks.

1 May: For schools interested in the Open (non-Lego) Category, we are organising a workshop to help your students to build a robot for the Challenge.
The East Zone Science and Technology Centre @ VJC is organising the 2005 East Zone Robotics Challenge on 29 July 2005, as part of its annual Science Carnival. The purpose of the Challenge is to provide students with opportunities to exercise their creativity and problem-solving skills in the field of robotics. 32 teams from 16 schools took part in last year's Challenge.
The participants should
(i) be Primary or Secondary School students in 2005
(ii) build and program robots to perform the tasks specified in Annex C.
Entry Forms should be faxed, mailed or emailed (kwek_eng_yeow@moe.edu.sg) to us by 27 May 2005. All teams will be notified by email upon the receipt of their applications.
Awards will be given out for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions for each of the Primary School, Secondary School and Open categories.

1st position: $200 + 3 sets of YesPic microcontrollers
2nd position: $150 + 2 sets of YesPic microcontrollers
3rd position: $100 + 1 set of YesPic microcontroller
Secondary School Category:

The new Open Category is meant for robots which do not use the Lego Mindstorms RCX microcontroller.
Workshop on how to build a complete robot:
To help interested schools to build a robot that can be used in the Open Category, we are organising a workshop conducted by da Vinci Workshop Pte Ltd.
