INTRODUCTION
H3 subjects are meant to allow exceptionally strong students to pursue a subject or area in which they have the interest and aptitude. Besides passion for a particular subject, students must have the time to manage a workload beyond the norm subject combination as H3 subjects have separate syllabuses that take students beyond the H2 syllabus.
Students can apply for H3 subject offered by either UCLES, SMU, NUS, NTU or NAV. The maximum number of H3 subjects allowed is 2. The total number of Academic Units offered by students cannot exceed 12. See FAQ for further information.

FAQ
1. Can I apply for more than one H3 subjects?
Yes, you can. Successful applicants will be given offers to take up the H3 subjects they have applied for. However, you can only accept up to 2 offers as students are not allowed to take more than two H3 subjects. You must also check that there are no clashes in the lesson schedules of the H3 subjects you are offering.
A non-refundable administrative fee will be levied upon acceptance of each offer. This administrative fee is chargeable even if you withdraw from the programme subsequently.
2. Should I offer two UCLES H3 subjects?
No, we do not encourage students to offer two UCLES subjects. Both subjects are examined together with other A-level subjects at the end of JC2 and this will reduce the amount of time available for revision of H1/H2 subjects.
You have to see respective Science/Math/Arts HOD if you wish to offer two H3 UCLES subjects for approval.
3. How do I know the results of my application for H3 UCLES subjects?
Results of H3 UCLES application will be released online at VJC homepage by end of October.
You must accept your offer within one week.
You will be considered to have withdrawn your application if you did not accept the offer within one week from the date of offer.
4. How do I know the results of my application for H3 NUS/NTU/SMU?
Results of H3 NUS/NTU/SMU application will be released by first week of December.
You will be informed via email and you will also receive a Letter of offer.
You must reply to the Letter of offer to confirm your acceptance.
5. Can I withdraw from the H3 course?
Yes, you can drop your H3 subject anytime but you will be given an Absent grade in your A-level result slip if you withdraw two weeks after the start of the course/research work for H3 NAV/NUS/NTU/SMU.
For UCLES H3, you will be given an Absent grade in your A-level result slip if you withdraw after registering the subject for the GCE A-level examination.
The Absent grade will not be printed in your A-level certificate.
6. What are the charges for offering H3 subjects?
The administrative fee payable per H3 subject (NAV/NUS/NTU/SMU) is $60 and it is non-refundable. The fee will be charged upon your acceptance of offer for H3 NAV/NUS/NTU/SMU subjects.
There is also an examination fee charged by SEAB for each H3 subject registered for the A-level examination.
